Aims & Scope
ERGOT is a peer-reviewed journal founded in 2017. Since October 2022 it has been published by publishing house Jakub Skalák – Přestupní stanice, Mělník (formerly by the Faculty of Arts, Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem). It appears twice a year, recently both online and in print, currently online only. It covers the fields of philosophy, epistemology, ethics, social and political philosophy, religious studies, psychology, politology and other social sciences. Open access policy
ERGOT adheres to the Open Access policy and publishes papers in the „Libre Open Access“ mode under the terms of the Creative Commons CC BY-ND 4.0 International license, i. e. all articles are available on the internet to all users immediately upon publication. Non-commercial and commercial use and distribution in any medium is permitted, provided that the author and the journal are properly credited. Authors are allowed to hold the copyright without restrictions. The journal allows the authors to retain publishing rights without restrictions.

The editors welcome scholarly and scientific work that draws on more than one disciplinary approach, as well as contributions from outside the Czech Republic. Authors should avoid unnecessary technicality and strive to be accessible to the widest scientific audience without sacrificing clarity and rigor.

No article charges
ERGOT does not have any article processing charges or article submission charges.
Authors do not receive any payment for publishing in the journal.
Paper format and other information
In order to ensure that manuscripts are reviewed as quickly as possible, authors are asked to submit manuscripts electronically using the email addresses as specified above.
If you submit your paper in printed form (note that electronic submission is always preffered), send two printed copies of the manuscript and two printed copies of an abstract. These will not be returned.
- Please use one of the following formats when submitting your manuscript: any recent version of Microsoft Word (.doc, .docx) or Rich Text Format (.rtf).
- Every submission must have a title, an abstract and keywords in English. The abstract should not exceed 250 words in length.
- Attach a biographical note of no more than fifty words.
- Attach your official mailing address (affiliation) and e-mail address.
Peer review process
The review procedure in the ERGOT journal is carried out anonymously on both sides. The editor of ERGOT sends copies of an author’s work to reviewers (researchers or scholars who are experts in the field) via e-mail. There are two reviewers for a given paper, neither of them from the same institution as the author of the reviewed paper or a member of the editorial board. The reviewers each return an evaluation of the work to the editor, noting potential weaknesses or problems along with suggestions for improvement. The reviewers‘ evaluations usually include an explicit recommendation of what to do with the manuscript or proposal, chosen from a following list: a) Accept, b) Reject, encourage revision and invite resubmission, c) Reject. The referees‘ comments and suggestions are eventually send to the author. A member of the editorial board, usually one who is most knowledgeable about the field of the manuscript, evaluates the referees‘ comments, expressing also his or her own opinion of the manuscript and considering the context of the particular issue of ERGOT, before passing a decision back to the author, usually with the referees‘ comments and suggestions. Reviewers remain anonymous to the authors.

Transparency
- Funding of any type and all research funders should be listed in all publications.
- All sources of support should be listed in all publications.
- Any possible conflict of interest should be disclosed (financial, personal, political, intellectual, or religious).
Authorship
- The list of authors of all publications should truthfully reflect the actual authors did the presented research.
- Papers that present new syntheses of research that have already been published should reference the primary data sources.
- By submitting paper to ERGOT, authors declare that the paper has not been published elsewhere.
- Papers should not contain any text or ideas which have been copied without appropriate attribution to the works of others.
- The editorial board monitors editorial process to prevent duplicate, plagiarized or fraudulent papers from being published.
Editorial process
- Principles of editorial process are described in the section Instructions for authors and Peer-review.
- Editors and reviewers are required to apply consistent standards in the double blind peer-review processes.
- Editors and reviewers are never involved in editorial decisions about their own work.
- Editors monitor the performance of peer reviewers and maintain a database of qualified peer reviewers.
- Reviewers are required to have a suitable qualification, expertise in one or several areas, objectivity and good judgment.
- Editors protect the confidentiality of individual information.
- The editorial board monitors the editorial process to avoid any conflict of interests.
Respecting dignity
- Editors exercise sensitivity when publishing texts that might have cause offence.
Misconduct
- If the editors or peer reviewers raise concerns of any misconduct, the respective paper will not be published until all such concerns are fully clarified.
- If there is a suspicion of misconduct, the author(s) in question will be informed and have a right to respond.
- Editors inform the readers if any ethical misconduct have occurred in published work.
- Editors or authors publish corrections (errata) if ethical misconduct have occurred in published work.
- Editors may ‘retract’ a paper already published in cases of serious misconduct.
